The central point about film as art is not that it be entertainment or even likable, though it must try to be both, but that it stay free. That means freedom from all attempts by others to coerce, intimidate, or police it in any way. If you like that ideal, then what you really want is the same as I really want: The choice to interpret a movie on its own merits. You get to view it and decide for yourself if the film changes the how and the way you view your world or not. It's a choice we all have. We pay with our wallets and our time. -DDD
